In ftrack Studio 4.5, we introduced a variety of features, including synchronized review, easy media comparison, and four new improvements designed to make production even easier for producers.
Below, we take a closer look at each of the four new producer-optimized improvements in ftrack Studio 4.5:
✅View links as an Attribute in the Tasks Spreadsheet
✅Edit and filter Assets Parent Attributes directly from the Versions page
✅ Access more Task Attributes directly from the Versions page
✅View week numbers in Timeline views
Let’s take a closer look at what each of these new updates means, and how they will help you to achieve more in less time with ftrack Studio 4.5. Head to the end of the blog to learn more about what else we introduced in this latest version of ftrack Studio.
View Links as an Attribute in the Tasks Spreadsheet, not just via the sidebar
What is it?
View entity links as an Attribute directly within the ftrack Studio Tasks Spreadsheet, instead of solely via the sidebar.
Entity links represent a dependency or relation between two entities in ftrack Studio. You can link versions to other asset versions, for example, or link Objects like Task, Shot or Folder. When working on complex projects with many deliverables and assets, understanding the dependency links between different entities is crucial if you want to know, for example, the status of an asset build used by a specific Shot or Scene.
What can I do with it?
Easily add and view Incoming and Outgoing entity links as Attributes directly from the Tasks Spreadsheet. Working with links from the Tasks Spreadsheet, rather than the sidebar, makes for a more efficient and more easily navigable workflow.
Previously, viewing links was only possible via the ftrack Studio sidebar. In ftrack Studio 4.5, you can view links as an Attributes directly within Tasks Spreadsheet context, alongside other Attribute columns such as project tasks, status, due dates, bid hours and more. You can also easily access each link for more information on dependencies directly from the Task Spreadsheet.
Edit and filter Asset Parent Attributes directly from the Versions page
What is it?
Filter, edit, and view data associated with your asset versions via the Versions page, without having to open the sidebar.
What can I do with it?
ftrack Studio 4.5 simplifies the editing of which Asset Parent Attributes display on your Versions page, and filtering on those Attributes. You can speed up sorting of versions, more easily navigate versions, and quickly filter out unnecessary asset information, all directly via the Versions page.
Without having to open the sidebar, you can edit Asset Parent Attributes to see the information most relevant to your project at any given time. You can then filter out the versions to drill down to specifics, such as in the example below, where we display only those versions for which the Status is “In Progress”.
Access more task Attributes directly from the Versions page
What is it?
Add Task Attributes via the Versions page, without having to open the sidebar.
What can I do with it?
Build a better picture of the overall picture of your project. With ftrack Studio 4.5, you can add Task Attributes, such as Task Assignee, Task Status, or Task Priority, directly via the Versions page, and then customize the placement of those columns. Adding Attributes makes it easier to understand headway and navigate updates on Tasks, and achieve a more holistic picture of status across your project.
View week numbers in Timeline views
What is it?
The option to add week numbers alongside dates in the Timeline view.
What can I do with it?
Improve visibility and gain a clearer understanding of project progress when scheduling and planning.
Some people prefer (or need) to work with week numbers throughout their projects. With ftrack Studio 4.5, it’s easy to append a week number to a date. For example, “Jul 27, 2020″ becomes “W31 Jul 27, 2020“.
