We’ve introduced passphrase protection to ftrack for use with client review! This new feature is available for all ftrack Review or ftrack Studio workspaces.

With current worldwide circumstances mandating that many of us work and collaborate remotely, we’re looking to add more security to our collaborative processes than ever before. That’s why we’ve introduced passphrase protection to reviews in ftrack. We hope that this extra layer of security makes your remote workflows more viable during the current era of distributed collaboration.

What does passphrase protection do?

Quite simply, passphrase protection adds a passphrase requirement to your review sessions!

If you turn passphrase protection on, any collaborators who wish to join your review session will need to know and enter the predefined passphrase when they follow their invite link. Once provided, they can join the review session and add feedback on media.

The passphrase protection feature gives both ftrack Studio and ftrack Review users added confidence that their shared media has an extra layer of protection. We will also add this new passphrase feature to our recently released Satellite Review feature for on-premise ftrack Enterprise customers.

How to enable passphrase protection in ftrack Review

  • Open the review session you would like to passphrase protect
  • In the right-hand panel, toggle “Passphrase protection” to on
  • ftrack Review will generate a random passphrase that you can edit
  • If you wish to see this passphrase, click the “eye” next to it. If you want to change the passphrase to something different, you can edit the passphrase field
  • All collaborators who attempt to join the review session via a link must now enter the passphrase to access the review.

How to enable passphrase protection in ftrack Studio

  • Open the client review session you would like to passphrase protect
  • In the right-hand panel, toggle “Passphrase protection” to on
  • ftrack Studio will generate a random passphrase that you can edit
  • If you wish to see this passphrase, click the “eye” next to it. If you want to change the passphrase to something different, you can edit the passphrase field
  • All collaborators who attempt to join the review session via a link must now enter the passphrase to access the review.

Please note: your review session passphrase will not be made automatically available for your collaborators. You will need to supply it to your collaborators outside of the ftrack Review/Studio app.

Security at ftrack

We take security very seriously at ftrack. This new feature is just another small step towards making ftrack completely secure when collaborating remotely.

We’re pleased to bring this feature to our customers, especially so given the circumstances of COVID-19. During this time, many of our customers are working out new ways to deliver work and collaborate remotely. We hope this feature helps to reinforce and support these distributed workflows as our users navigate the unique challenges they bring.
